Bolivia
My trip through bolivia started in
copacabana. not nearly like the one in rio. the main attraction
there in isla del sol (island of the sun) which truly live
up to its name.
From there I continued to la paz, stayed at the infamous
lobo. La Paz is the biggest market on earth. Everything
there is on the street and everywhere u look someone is
selling something. truly amazing. don't miss the el alto
market on sunday and thursdays! from la paz i went in and
out for treks and others excursion.
Sorata was nice but little boring. met shaul and i went
out to 7 days self built raft on the alto beni. Really special.
did some unique mountain bike trips, including the death
road. climbed the huayna potosi 5800m (didn't made to the
top).
Went down to rurranabaque - the jungle capital. rented a
bike there for a day (didn't know how to ride at first...),
pampas "trek" for 3 days of alligators, monkeys
and anacondas. spent new year's eve in a luxurious hotel
that even tom cruise once stayed in.
Back to La Paz. More treks: Self navigated through the Yunga
cruz bypass, and the San Julian: 10 day in the almost unvisited
hell of the southern madidi reserve. didn't see any animals,
but i took a good look to the devil in the eyes. quite an
experience. thanks to shaul for the recommendations!
Left La Paz for the last time to the salar de uyuni. with
the famous juan. was amazing and unique until he died on
a 5995m peak near chile we expeditioned.
After settling this, continued to potosi's mines and Tupiza
- rode a horse for 2 days and couldn't walk for more than
that. from there, a night bus to argentina with the most
beautiful sunrise i ever seen.
Bolivia was saying goodbye.
