At the age of 62, it’s amazing to me how ozzy can still rock on stage. of course, his moves maybe not as gracious as they used to be, seems like he’s more staggering then walking on stage

And we even noticed a bit of a Stomach growing bigger and bigger

But all of this doesn’t really matter cause his voice is clear and coherent as ever. and no doubt his act is as crazy as it ever was.

Ozzy is accompanied by 1st class band. of course no Israeli concert can acclaim to have great sound, these guys really bring out the maximum from all Ozzy and Black sabbath playlist they had planed for us this night.

This guy gave ~5 minute of drum solo, allowing old Ozzy to take 5 from the intense show…

Personally i thought the drum solo was too long and uninspired. but cudoes for Tommy Clufetos for the stamina…

So yeah, ozzy was the main act of course, but lets not forget it was a “Festival”. there were more bands playing.

The evening started with sepultura, who played their classics, Chaos AD, Roots and more.

Sorry, was it soulfly on stage? it was hard to tell cause 50% of their set was Sepultura covers.

Not that i complain, of course. it always great to hear. and after they did only one Sepultura song their show in WACKEN, it was a change for the better

So yeah Max Cavalera has no problem playing his old classics, and probably good he did so, cause israeli croud kinda prefer it that way…

On the minor stage, played some local israeli bands. i only got to catch one of them, called Almana shcora… the won some 88FM contest and got to play at the fest. First time i heard them, but i was surprised they were actually quite good…

They also called to free Gilad shalit… no event in israel that compeletly avoids politics…

Quite the rockers this guy apperanly.

Last and least, were Korn.

These guys i must say i stopped listen to when i was 16, after their second album or so. over the years heard a song or two they put out, never really liked the new genre they invented.

To be honest their stuff sounds better live then on CDs and they did have a set that had some of their old stuff in it, which was good.

I liked that the bass play cab play vertically!

I was disappointed the they didn’t play A.D.I.D.A.S though. I guess they are already sick of that song…

Bass guitar is still cool….

Cooperation is important to having a good bands…

That’s it. Ozzfest 2010 is over. Was good fun, hope this will start a tradition that will remain for years to come, and maybe even grow for more then half a day gig.

And if not, there’s always next year in W:O:A

Why did i go? Well, got my hands on some (really) cheap tickets.
Seats were not so good. couldnt find my way into the main floor. had to stay in the gallery, about 200M from the stage. Good thing i brought my long lens.

So 2 things are different this time: first, this is the first show i didnt get to squeeze into the front lines. couldnt get through the gazillion lines on guards so this i didnt even break a sweat. shooting this far in these condition is quite challenging. the angle of shooting was quite static, so i had to use a little bit more imagination to get a good shot.

Also, i had time to take some panoramas

Second, is the new feature on my new D300 – video! I took the chance of being relatively static above the crowd the check you the video quality of this baby. Sound pretty sucked but i was amazed by the image quality. not easy to hold still a camera + 3Kg lens…

Back to our subjects at hand. Well, metallica is metallica…
Highlight of the evening for me was when they played “One” followed by Hamster of puppets (Hamster! Hamster!)

James still annoys us with this new found voice. But he seems to get old and tired, since a lot of the songs he just lets the crowd sings.

I dont know what is it about the new guy that just makes me hate him. Good player ill give’em that. but i dont know, he just doesnt belong.

What does belong is me instead of THIS photographer…

And the Croud… This is my favorite part in these big live shows. Forget the band, look at them!

As usually in israel, is going wild. Though i wasnt in there, looks wild…

But Can Also get touchy…

But yes, Metallica were the ones who made all of this happen…

Did i mentioned the power outage in the middle? Oh well, yes. They had some outage for like 2-3 minutes. It made Huge headlines in ynet, but come on… These stuff happen. They Shouldnt, but they happen. Though luck. get over it!

The band didnt even noticed it btw, cause their monitors kept working… so they just kept playing for a while until they noticed that nobody rocks anymore…

Well, Metallica in the holy land, for the 3rd time. Things were not smooth in this show. not the sound, not the power, not all tickets sold:

All in all, good fun. had better.

I must say i almost missed that one, as it went under my radar until about a week before the show, but i dropped all other plans for this night as soon as i heard in order to be able to see a rock legend in the flesh.

And it was no disappointment. malmsteen put out a spectacle very rarely seen in rock concerts. With his compelete control of his tools (guitars) – he manages to play in every pose possible: over his head, behind his back on his knee and in the air

All this is done while playing complex guitar solos to construct, with the rest of his band a true head banging classic metal concert

Accompaning him in singing was the world’s best band crusher: tim ‘ripper’ owens (previously judas priest, iced earth and more…). this guy is a professional singer replacer. wherever a band is in need for a new singer, somehow he appears. usually he does such a crappy job that after a while the original singer cant hear him ruining his songs that they must come back, and tim finds himself being kicked out and moving on to the next band he would crush on…

Yeah, you got me, i dont like this guy’s voice. i never found music his voice fits in naturally (maybe cause he always join in on other people’s material).

But this show is all about the guitar, not vocals.

A lot of the songs didnt even had too much lyrics, so his voice didnt really ruined it for me that much and most time he was off the stage as well.

Anoter suprising matter regarding the timing of the show. this is the first show ive ever been to that actually started on time! 21:30 pronto malmsteen was on stage playing.

A lot of the crowd didnt even had time to get in! Come one people. this is israel! nothing gets started on time! (shame!)

Another thing the israeli crowd is known of is their love of photography. EVERYONE was shooting with something(and yes, the size do count!).

The set was a little bit short for my taste: only 1H and 40 minutes including encore. for the price of the ticket, i say its a bit of a rip-off. but i guess with all the pyrotechnics, in malmsteen advanced age, its a miracle he last that long with such vitality.

For conclusion, Malmsteen really gets into his show, giving all he’s got. It is apparant that he do this out of love and dedication to his music,

and it’s a true pleasure to see and hear this guy play.

and this is why in my eyes, yngwie malmsteen is

the TRUE guitar hero…

המופע המרכזי לרגל יום כדוה”א, או כסיומת לאירועי יום העצמאות אם תרצו.

פורטיס, שלומי שבן וחברים מופיעים על במה שכולה מופעלת בכוח ירוק – על ידי רוכבי אופניים המייצרים חשמל בעזרת הדיווש.

בסדר. אם 5 ילדים שמדי פעם נותנים איזה דחיפה לפדל מייצר מספיק חשמל כדי להאיר במה שלמה ומע’ סאונד כזאת רצינית, מחר אני קונה אופניים ו 5 פועלים סיניים ומתנתק מחברת חשמל לתמיד.

אבל למה להיות שליליים, העיקר הכוונה לא? אז מה אם היה גנרטור מאחורה, ואיזה חיבור קטן לחשמל, העיקר הכוונה. סה”כ הכוונה הייתה לעורר מודעות, ואת זה הצליחו לעשות, או לפחות הצליחו לגרום לאנשים לצאת מהבית כדי לראות הופעה טובה.

והיא אכן הייתה טובה. למרות הקמטים, פורטיס עדיין פצצת אנרגיה על הבמה ונותן שואו שחבל על הזמן, נתן ממיטב להיטיו.

וגם עשה שיתופי פעולה עם כמה חברים,

שלומי שבן למשל,

וההיא באדום… זאת שאוהבת את התוף מרים… אה, דנה עדיני. חמודה דווקא…

לקראת הסוף, פורטיס החליט לעשות טובה לבנות ישראל ולהזמין אותן לשיר איתו על הבמה… נראה שגם בגילו המופלג הממזר עדיין לא איבד את זה…

סה”כ ערב לא רע בכלל, והכי חשוב – בחינם אז למה להתלונן. יפה. הנה עוד כמה פוזות לסיום:

since i wasnt able to bring my DSLR with me as i usually do, i though i finally see what can i do with a simple celluar camera. I pulled out my Iphone 3G, without many hopes.

The iphone is a great phone but i does not excel in it’s camera, to say the least. it’s hard to shoot with it among croud, and the picture is noisy, and unfocused under these light conditions, but that’s all i had, so  i just pulled right in and shoot.

after a bit of creative work, these are the results. Not amazing quality, but it shows that with a little hard work (and maybe a more decent cell-cam) – it can be done to shoot a concert using your cell and still come out with decent results.

So without further a dues,  i give you Infected Mushroom, live in tel aviv!

Not everyday Infected comes to do a show in tel aviv – although they are israeli… but they decided to debute their new album with here with lots of guests and a full almot 3 hour set.

חלומו של כל מי שבדמו באמת זורם רוק התגשם – דרים תיאטר סופסוף בישראל.

לקח לנו הרבה זמן לעכל את העניין, אבל במהרה ההופעה הזאת הפכה לאחת הגדולות שהיו לנו פה בזמן האחרון.

וגם לדרים לפי הבנתי…

הקהל בהחלט בא מרוגש לקראת ההופעה הזאת,

ונראה שגם לדרים זה היה אירוע דיי חשוב.  גם הם לא מופיעים כל יום מול 10000 מעריצים נלהבים…

למרות שלדעתי הם יכלו להשקיע קצת יותר בתפאורה – אפילו דגל של הלהקה לא היה מאחור… ואיפה התופים המפורסמים של פורטוני, עם סמל הלהקה עליהם?!

בכל מקרה, דרים הגיעו עם סט ליסט מכובד ביותר, שכיסה פחות או יותר את כל האלבומים של הלהקה, מימי AWAKE האגדתיים דרך כמעט כל שיר אפשרי מתוך  IMAGES AND WORDS (שוב שום תלונות כאן), אבל מבחינתי ההפתעה הכי גדולה היא HOLLOW YEARS מתוך Falling into infinity – אלבום שבד”כ נשכח ברפרטואר, למרות שלדעתי הוא אחד הטובים שלהם.

כמובן שדרים לא שכחו לפחות שיר אחד מכל האלבומים הבאים, וגם נתנו הצצה קצרה לשיר מתוך האלבום החדש, שאמור לצאת בחודש הבא.

ובנימה אישית, תמונות אלו הובאו לכם בדם, יזע, ו(כמעט) דמעות אחרי שאחת העדשות היותר יקרות הייתה קרובה מאוד לריסוק טוטאלי. הלוואי שהמארגנים, שממש לא היו נחמדים לצלמים יבינו סופסוף שאנחנו רק עושים להם שירות בזה שאנחנו באים, מצלמים ומפיצים את ההופעה, ושיתחילו להתייחס אלינו כנכס ולא כמטרד…

RED BAND,

הלהקה הכי שעירה בארץ, נחתה בבאר שבע. מופע משעשע ביותר מלא הומור, מוזיקה טובה בביצוע לא שיגרתי בעליל.

בעיני לפחות, הפתעת השנה

בניגוד ללהקות אחרות שכבר סיקרתי, ההיכרות שלי עם איטליז הסתכמה בשמיעה חטופה של כמה שירים בעמוד הפייסבוק של הלהקה (שמתוחזק על ידם בצורה נפלאה, אגב, באופן שוטף) ומשמיעה ראשונית הבנתי שיש פה משהו מעניין, אבל לא הצלחתי להצביע על מה בדיוק, אולי כי כל שיר מאופיין בסגנון אחר לגמרי וקשה לקטלג אותם לתוך מסגרת אחת.

ראשית הוקרן הקליפ החדש של הלהקה לשיר HEY, שהוכן על ידי חבר הלהקה גיא בן שיטרית.

הקליפ כולו אנימציה חמודה  ונראה מקצועי ביותר. ניתן לראות אותו כאן.

הדבר הראשון שאיטליז דאגו לעשות זה להעיר את הקהל ולהקים אותו מהכסאות ולהביא אותו לקידמת הבמה. משימה לא קלה אחרי ההופעה המשמימה משהו של להקת “סייד”, שבעיקר גרמה לי לרצות להטביע את יגוני בהרבה אלכוהול (מה שדווקא עזר לי אחר כך להנות מאיטליז יותר).

אחרי שצלחנו את המשוכה הזאת, זה כבר נראה יותר כמו הופעת רוק כמו שצריך להיות. ואחרי חימום קל הקהל החל לדפוק את הראש בהתאם.

למרות שכמות אנשים גדולה לא הגיעה, החבר’ה הצליחו להלהיב ונתנו שואו מקצועי לחלוטין. הקול של לי הסולנית משתלב היטב בגיטרות המנסרות. ויש לה כבר נוכחות של דיווה מתחילה.

ייאמר לזכותם , שרוב השירים נשמעים הרבה יותר טוב בלייב מאשר בגרסאת האלבום. לדעתי זה אומר הרבה על הרמה של החבר’ה האלה.

לסיכום, איטליז הראו שלמרות שהם להקה בראשית דרכה, יש להם הרבה מה להציע. הם מנגנים מוזיקה מגוונת וייחודית מכל מיני סגנונות. אבל כל מה שהם עושים – יוצא טוב, כנראה גם בגלל שהם אוהבים את מה שהם עושים… אותי לפחות הם כבר קנו.

מכתבה זו נותרו רק התמונות… שזה מספיק לדעתי

דיפ פרפל הגיעו להופעה בישראל (בקיסריה, לא פחות), ולמעט דחייה בכשבוע במועד ההופעה דווקא לאלו שהזדרזו וקנו כרטיסים הכי מוקדם בגלל איזה נשיא רוסי וחברת נפט כלשהי, הם לא אכזבו. גם אחרי כ 40 שנה על הבמה החבר’ה האלה עדיין יודעים איך לתת שואו, ויכולים עדיין ללמד דבר או שניים את כל הלהקות הצעירות מלאות הפוזה של ימינו על איך מנגנים רוק כבד אמיתי.

הלהקה נתנה סט מרשים עם מיטב הלהיטים שלהם מכל הזמנים, וגם לא שכחה להכניס כמה שירים מהחומר היותר חדש שלהם, שבאופן מפתיע משתלב יפה מאוד בתוך החומר הקלאסי ומלהיב לא פחות. הסטליסט של ההופעה:

בין הקטעים שולבו גם קטעי סולו של כל אחד מהנגנים, שדאג להראות לנו מה 40 שנה של התמקצעות על הכלי שלו הפכו כל אחד בפני עצמו לנגנים מן השורה הראשונה.

הזמר היחפן אומנם בשנות השישים לחייו אבל הקול שלו נשמע עדיין חד וצלול מתמיד, והנוכחות שלו על הבמה מורגשת. עם זאת היה ניתן לראות שהגיל נותן בו את אותותיו כאשר בין השירים היה הולך למאחורי הקלעים להסדיר קצת את הנשימה.

Roger Glover

הבחור נותן פוזות של כוכב רוק קלאסי, מטרה צילומית נאה מאין כמוה ללא ספק.

Ian Paice

המתופף הותיק, החבר היחיד בלהקה מההתחלה שלה, שדפק על כל האמפי בקיסריה והביא סולו מדהים לקראת הסוף, וגם אם שבר מקל באמצעו, דאג לאלתר עם היד השניה, בעוד הוא שולף מקל אחר זו מקצועיות!

הצעיר שבחבורה, שנכנס לנעליו הגדולות של הגיטריסט האגדי ריצ’י בלקמור. היה בהחלט הפתעת הערב. מכמה אנשים שמעתי את האימרה “זה לא דיפ פרפל בלי בלקמור”, אז חברים, אמנם את בלקמור לא יצא לי לשמוע לייב, אבל הבחור שלפנינו בהחלט המם אותי בכמה סולואים מטרפי חושים, לא פעם אור הזרקורים הופנה עליו ונראה שהבחור “הצעיר” של הלהקה נותן לחבר’ה המבוגרים קצת זמן לנוח תוך כדי…

הקלידן היחסית חדש של דיפ פרפל, הפתיע בסולו ארוך במיוחד שכלל גם קטעים ממלחמת הכוכבים והתקווה.

למרות שכל אחד מהחברים הוא נגן בחסד עליון בפני עצמו, מה שהופך את הלהקה הזאת מאוסף של נגנים לאגדה חיה היא הכימיה בין החברים. רואים שהחבר’ה האלה פשוט נהנים מכל רגע על הבמה, ונותנים את כל מה שיש להם כדי לתת שואו מעולה.

אין דבר כזה “עוד סתם גיג” נותנים הכל כל ערב! יש תמורה בעד האגרה

סטיב ורוג’ר בריף משותף

עד אמצע השואו בערך, הקהל ישוב כולו. אחרי הכל מי ששילם הכי הרבה זכה לשבת על כיסאות נוחים קרוב לבמה, ממש כמו בקונצרט. אבל ברגע שאיאן התחיל עם HIGHWAY STAR, כבר לא היה להם סיכוי. המעריצים המשולהבים רצו קדימה. מי שהזדרז עוד הספיק לעלות על כיסאו לפני שהצונאמי של מעריצים שטף את הרחבה.

וסופסוף, המופע הפך מאירוע תרבות לקונצרט רוק ראוי לשמו!

וקצת בנימה אישית, אני חייב להגיד שבאתי למופע ברגשות מעורבים, לא ידעתי למה לצפות ממופע של חבר’ה לא כל כך צעירים. אני חייב לציין שזה היה המופע עם ממוצע הגילאים הכי גבוה שהייתי בו, היו שם משפחות שלמות, אבות עם בנים שבאו לצפות (אהה וגם את דודו זר תפסתי בקהל). מקומות מסומנים, אמפי קיסריה? לא ממש בשבילי חשבתי. אבל מהתו הראשון היה ברור גם לי וכנראה שגם לכל הקהל שהם לא שכחו מה זה מופע רוק אמיתי ואיכותי, ושעל אף, ואולי בזכות, השנים הרבות על הבמה, דיפ פרפל הם להקה שיודעת לתת בראש ולהעמיד גם זקנים בני 50 על הרגליים.

ללא ספק זהו המופע הכי טוב שהייתי בו עד היום. מי יתן והחבר’ה האלה ימשיכו להופיע עוד שנים רבות. אני לפחות, שמח שיצא לי לחזות באגדה החיה הזאת ממקור ראשון!

לאן הגעתם? ובכן, זהו המקום הקטן שלי ברשת. בו אני כותב את מה שעולה על רוחי. לא אל תדאגו, זה לא עוד “בלוג של מישהו משועמם שמספר איך עבר עליו היום”. לכולם היום יש בלוג באינטרנט. כולם כותבים על מישהו או משהו. מה כבר לי יש לחדש? טוב אז לאחר הרבה זמן של חיפושים אחר משהו מעניין לכתוב, הגעתי למסקנה:

אני לא ממש יודע לכתוב. אני לא איש של מילים, ולא יודע להתבטא ברהיטות או בעניין לקוראים.

החלטתי אם כן לנסח את הבלוג שלי בצורה בה אני יודע להתבטא יותר טוב. תמונות. מי שמכיר אותי יודע שהצילום אצלי תחביב ואף יותר מכך כבר הרבה שנים. וכבר מזמן הבנתי שכשאני רוצה, אני יכול לבטא את עצמי הכי טוב דרך התמונות שאני מצלם.

אז האתר הזה נועד לשלב שתי הנאות קטנות שלי בחיים: צילום ומוזיקה. יותר נכון, הופעות . מאז שאני זוכר את עצמי אחת ההנאות שלי הייתה ללכת ולשמוע הופעה טובה. והאמת – מאז שלקחתי מצלמה לידים ההנאה הזו רק התגברה. אמנים מופיעים זו אנרגיה טהורה – המתפרצת על הבמה בשלל של תנוחות ואורות. לדעתי תפיסת רגע אחד כזה בתמונה שווה מאלף מילים של תיאור /ביקורת כדי להעביר את החוויה.

אז זהו, זו כנראה הפוסט עם הכי הרבה מילים שתראו בבלוג הזה. כאן אני אפרסם תמונות נבחרות מהופעות שהייתי בהן לאחרונה. אתם תוכלו להנות מביקורת מצולמת. אם הגעתם להופעה זוהי מזכרת טובה מערב בלתי נשכחת. אם פספסתם – לטעמי זה הכי קרוב לממש להיות שם.
